This Clouded Sulfur Butterfly is a native pollinator in Colorado. This is part of a series I will be sharing some designs from called Colorful Colorado that I worked on in 2023. The series is digital ink and gouache, hand drawn and painted in Procreate on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil.
The idea behind this series was to show that these animals are all around us, if we stop to look. They are integrating themselves- some more successfully than others- into our advanced world of architecture and technology. The Craftsman style pattern accenting the diamond behind the butterfly and flower highlights the beautiful patterns in its wings, and encourages the viewer to look past their daily world to notice these small animals and include them in their view of a beautiful planet.
